Product Description

The S460+ is a portable digital low resistance ohmmeter for checking bonding conductors, electrical contacts, busbar joints and welded connections. It uses a four-wire measurement method, with a maximum test current of 2 A and a resistance range of 0.01 mΩ to 100 kΩ.

A colour display, data hold, 900-record storage and an adjustable resistance alarm support recording and reviewing measurements. Its wire-length function uses the resistance of a known-length sample and the total wire resistance to calculate the wire length.

Technical FAQ

Does it always apply a 2 A test current?
The source specifies a maximum test current of 2 A. This should not be interpreted as a guaranteed 2 A output throughout the complete resistance range.
What is the four-wire connection?
Separate current and voltage connections are used: I+ and I− for test current, and V+ and V− for voltage sensing. The manual shows these connections at the two ends of the conductor under test.
How does the wire-length function work?
A known-length sample of the wire is measured first. The instrument then measures the total wire resistance and calculates length from the sample and total resistance measurements.
Does S460+ automatically discharge an inductive test object?
No. The manual states that the instrument has no discharge function. For an inductive object such as a transformer winding, discharge using an appropriate external instrument must be completed before the test leads are removed.
